Dearest friends, in the parable of the WEEDS (Cf. Matt 13:24-30), Jesus laid bare the wisdom of the Father in our relationship with him. He is not always quick to treat us the way we deserve, but he offers us opportunities to change for good.
Thus, none of us would deny the fact that he/she has no WEED of sin. The Scriptures made it very clear thus: “If we claim that we have no SIN, then we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us” (Cf. 1 Jn 1:8). Indeed, that God has not unleashed some severe punishments on us does not mean that we are the most righteous; instead, it shows his merciful love and patient endurance. Yes, he is rich in mercy but he is also JUSTICE personified. Thus, while his MERCY offers us opportunities to REPENT from our sins, his JUSTICE rewards us according to our deeds; especially when we refuse to utilize the opportunities he has offered us to repent.
Therefore, we are encouraged to always ensure that we do not allow the WEED of SIN to continue to alter the WHEAT of HOLINESS in our lives. Being always conscious of the ever possibility of the presence of the WEEDS gives us a better opportunity to always get rid of them. Thus, the Catechism affirms:
All members of the Church, including her ministers, must ACKNOWLEDGE that they are SINNERS. In everyone, the WEEDS of sin will still be mixed with the good WHEAT of the Gospel until the end of time… (Cf. CCC n. 827).
So, while the weeds of sin subsists, let us always take solace in the sacrament of CONFESSION.
We pray the Blessed Virgin Mary to always support us with her powerful intercession. Amen🙏🏼
Remain blessed!
