Dearest friends, you can attest to the fact that a very common saying on the lips of many persons, especially those who pursue the latest fashion in vogue, is: ‘God does not look at Appearances.‘ The above ideology has equally crept into some places of worship, where another saying has been added thus: ‘Come the way you are.’
Well, I see the above as one of the greatest tactics of the devil and his agents in enthroning LUST and DISTRACTIONS, in the hearts of people, especially in places of worship.
We wish to make it very clear that those who employ the above sayings are simply getting it wrong and those who adhere to the above fall into the same trap with them.
Jesus himself told us the parable of the wedding feast, wherein, after those who were invited disappointed the host, he (the host) decided to send his servants into the streets to call anybody they were able to see. When all entered the celebration hall, the host went round only to discover a person putting on a wrong attire and he gave orders that he be cast out, where there would be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Cf. Matt 22:1-14).
Sometimes, some Christians find it very difficult to understand why anybody should talk about fashion. For such persons, what people put on on their bodies should not be the business of any other person, since it is the person’s choice. Well, I would encourage parents, teachers, pastors, etc., never to grow tired of telling those under their care about upholding virtuous fashion. To keep silent about it is even more dangerous. Remember that your so called SEXY fashion is capable of leading someone into engaging in sinful thoughts (lust) or even immoral acts. To such persons who lead others into sin through their fashion Jesus says that the punishment would be severe thus: “Although it is necessary for temptations to arise, nevertheless: WOE to that.person THROUGH whom temptation arises!” (Cf. Matt 18:6-7).
The Bible also, in a very clear language, says this:
… And do not choose to be CONFORMED to this contemporary world, but instead choose to be REFORMED in the newness of your mind, so that you may demonstrate what is the will of God: what is good, and what is well-pleasing, and what is perfect (Cf. Rom 12:1-2).
As Christians, we should be reminded that we are in the world but we are not of the world (Cf. Jn 17:14-16). Thus, we should be very selective and critical when it comes to the fashion we follow. Remember that Jesus Christ wants us to be the SALT of the earth and the LIGHT of the world (Cf. Matt 5:13-14). We cannot be the above if we blindly follow the people of the world in their SEXY/SEDUCTIVE and questionable fashion which are simply motivated by the LUST of the flesh, the eyes and the ARROGANCE of life (Cf. 1 Jn 2:15-17).
Finally, we recall with tears, the words of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Sis. Lucia during the Apparition at Fatima thus: “Many fashions will be introduced in the world which will OFFEND my Son (Jesus Christ) very much.”😭
