In a landmark development, the Catholic owned Veritas University of Nigeria, Abuja (VUNA), has secured approval from the Nigeria University Commission (NUC) for the running of Medicine and Surgery programme in the institution.
In an approval letter dated 3rd November, 2023, and signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary, the programme is set to begin full operation in the 2024 academic session.
“I am directed to inform the Vice-Chancellor that the Ag. Executive Secretary has considered and approved the establishment of the full-time mode of the following undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, to be run in the Main Campus of the University with effect from 2023/2024 academic session,” the letter read.
In an exclusive phone interview with CSN Media, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku, expressed his delight at the development, stating that it is a significant milestone for the institution. He noted that the approval of these additional courses by the NUC is a testament to the university’s growth and a great source of encouragement to the academic community.
Veritas University, which was established in 2007 and has since inception, grown to become a reputable academic citadel for character and learning.
