The Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, Archbishop Michael Francis Crotty, commended Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama for his efforts in fostering the development of new pastoral areas in the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja.
According to the Papal Envoy, Archbishop Kaigama has been instrumental in creating new pastoral areas, an initiative he described as ongoing and essential. “I commend him for his vision and leadership,” Archbishop Crotty said, adding, “While I’m here in Nigeria, I am happy to support these efforts in any way I can.”
Archbishop Crotty made the remarks on the sidelines during the recently concluded 5th annual Abuja Archdiocesan General Assembly (AAGA). He also emphasized the importance of trust in God during hardships, urging Nigerians experiencing persecution and economic hardships to remain hopeful and steadfast in faith.
“The important thing is to always trust in God’s providence,” Archbishop Crotty said, adding, “Particularly now, as we reflect on the Book of Revelation, we are reminded that this text was written during a time of great persecution and tribulation for the Church. Its ultimate message is clear: the goodness of God will always triumph over evil and adversity.”
Archbishop Crotty also lauded the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja for organizing its Fifth General Assembly, describing it as a “vital platform for reflection and growth within the local Church.” He encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope, even in the midst of great hardship and difficulty, and urged them to pray for those facing adversity, offering them courage through prayer and hope.
