Breaking: Akubeze commissions 17 Catechists, urged them not to take over their Parish Priests

A total of 17 young men has been commissioned for the catechetical mission in the Archdiocese of Benin City

The event that took place at St Albert Catholic Church with the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Ugbowo Campus Benin City, was presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Benin City, Most Rev Augustine Obiora Akubeze on the 1st of December, 2022.

Preaching his homily at the liturgical celebration, Archbishop Akubeze commended the Commissioned Catechists for their choice of becoming promoters of the works of Evangelization in the church.

Akubeze however cautioned the Catechists never to be too over ambitious as to wanting to challenge their Parish Priests, reminding them that they (Catechists) are not Ordained Priests.

He later urged all the newly commissioned Catechists to imbibe the virtue of humility and obedience to constituted authorities at all times…
