The 2022 National Laity Council Week opening ceremony in the Archdiocese of Benin City, which just ended at Holy Cross Cathedral, Benin City with a call for lay Faithful to bear witness to the truth
Meanwhile, the celebration commenced with a Mass of Thanksgiving Con-celebrated by the Archbishop of Benin City, Most Rev Augustine Obiora Akubeze, the Cathedral Administrator, Rt. Rev Msgr. Festus Omede, the Archdiocesan Laity Chaplain, Rev Fr Jerome Idebe amongst others.
The president of the Archdiocesan Laity Council, Mr Anthony Anirah at the event, expressed delight over the fact that three (3) Ex- Presidents ( in the person of Mr Omo Aghigbe, Sir Best Iriabe as well as, Lady Dr C. Ijeghede) were physically present to grace the opening event.
Mr Anirah had appreciated the effort of the Archbishop for always collaborating with the Laity of the, as he called on all to be very committed with the other activities of the week in their various parish level.
Earlier in his homily, Archbishop Akubeze thanked the faithful for always being there for the Church, as he also called on all Christians to lead good lives so as to also prepare for death when ever it comes…
Akubeze further called on all Lay Faithful in the Archdiocese to always be ready to bear witness to the truth wherever they find themselves as that is his motto; adding that, by so doing their work of evangelization will be stronger.
Over 200 Laity delegates were on hand to grace the event.
