BUREAUCRACY MUST NOT IMPEDE CHRISTIAN CHARITY – Padre Mike

Reflecting on the concept of love and harmony as an imperative of true Christian living, the National Director of Social Communications, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN),
Rev. Fr. Michael Umoh appealed that as true Christians, laws and bureaucracies should not becloud their senses and responsibilities as Christians, but one has to be careful in building a balance and let love reign at all times.

“Let us notice the attitude of the world towards Jesus, while Jesus was moved by pity towards the paralytic in the Gospel reading, the Pharisees were busy quoting the Sabbath law. At times, laws and bureaucracies can becloud our senses and responsibilities as Christians. So we have to be careful to build a balance, and above all, love should reign at all times.”

Fr. Umoh in his homily during the afternoon Mass at St. Gabriel Chaplaincy, CSN on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, emphasised that the life of the Church and that of a Christian in a corrosive environment of the society, must bring about freshness, love, and true peace.

“The life of the Church, in the corrosive environment of the society, must bring freshness, the life of a Christian, in the corrosive environment of the society, must bring freshness. This can only happen when we as Christians allow Jesus to truly come into our heart to operate and control our being. If we live our life in Christ, it will bring true peace, true joy and true growth to anyone we encounter.”

The homilist further admonished that as Christians who are Christ-bearers, they should be bearers of joy, bearers of hope and bearers of happiness, because in the final analysis, they will have to account for how much hope they inspired, how much love they shared and how much harmony they brought about in the lives of the people around them.
