In a historic partnership to further deepen the activities of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), the Communications Directorate of Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) has brokered a partnership with the Catholic Knighthood of St. John International (KSJI) on the production of a CBCN Annual Review Magazine.
In a statement by the National Director of Social Communication of CSN, Very Rev Fr. (Dr) Michael Nsikak Umoh, he congratulated KSJI on the successful debut of her quarterly journal, St. John De Harbinger; adding that “we appreciate our excellent working relationship, especially in publicity and your support for our programmes. We look forward to continued collaboration”.
Very Rev Fr. Umoh amplified that the publication aims to: compile statements on topical issues affecting the Church and country; provide a reference source for intellectual engagement; and promote awareness of Church’s positions.
He added that the Directorate proposes partnering with the KSJI Editorial team of St. John De Harbinger, to produce this unique compendium.
While endorsing the partnership for the CSN publication, CBCN Annual Review Magazine, the National President of KSJI, Sir (Professor) Remy Uche, in a statement, echoed that the collaboration is a most welcomed one, given the relevance of the publication of such an august body.
Speaking further, Sir Uche said, that “this partnership will help KSJI fulfill its unique duty of amplifying the CBCN’s voice in society and the Church, as well as enhance academic value, foster closer ties between the Order and the Church of Nigeria, among others”.
Sir Uche added “we are delighted to be part of this epoch-making project, and on behalf of Knights of St. John International and Ladies Auxiliary in Nigeria, I hereby give my consent to it. I have already directed the Editor-in-Chief of our journal, Sir Peter Osamgbi, to liaise with the CSN Communications Director, Very Rev Fr. Dr. Michael Umoh, to implement”.
Speaking in the same vein, Sir Osamgbi commended the CSN initiative, and echoed the position of Sir Remy Uche, that the publication of the CBCN Annual Review Magazine, will be of immense benefit to Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, the entire Church and academic community.
Sir Peter Osamgbi added that such benefits include; serializing CBCN and Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria events for easy referencing; reach marginalized faithful with limited internet access; showcase Catholic community activities in Nigeria; and inform policy-making affecting the Church, among others.
