Every woman takes her motherhood from Blessed Virgin Mary – Sr. Bernadine

…as CSN Community celebrates women’s day

Explaining the rationale behind the mother’s day celebration within the context of the Catholic Church, the Human Resource Manager, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), Rev. Sr. Bernadine Ikeji, DDL, disclosed that the Solemnity of the Annunciation on March 25th, forms the bases for mother’s day celebration in the church, because every woman takes her motherhood from the Mother of Christ; the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Sr. Bernadine stated this in her congratulatory message to all the women working at the CSN and agencies of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) during the Mother’s day celebration at the CSN Community on Friday, April 12, 2024. She wished them happiness, joy and peace in their various families, and advised them to be submissive to their husbands, even as she prayed that their spouses should indeed sincerely love them.

Further disclosing that the celebration which started 10 years ago in CSN, involves not only the married women, but also the single ladies and female religious, Sr. Bernadine prayed for the grace of perseverance to the vocation for the female religious and the virtue to live a pure and holy life among the single ladies till marriage.

The CSN women leader, Mrs. Ogechi Unegbu, on her part, wished all the women in CSN and agencies of the CBCN God’s protection and God’s amazing love and advised the women to draw closer to God.

Mrs. Ogechi who has been the woman leader for the past 10 years, disclosed that the past years have been amazing, encouraging and inspiring. She urged the next administration to introduce new innovations and ideas that can empower and unite the women in the CSN Community.

The celebration also featured a visit to the City of Refuge Orphanage Home at Durumi, Talk and interactive session among the women, and a Thanksgiving Mass.
