Fr. Banjo Meets with DAAR Communications Management, Commends Partnership in Evangelization

By Fr. Michael Nsikak Umoh, CSN

As part of his ongoing familiarization tour, Fr. Michael Banjo, the new Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), paid a courtesy visit to the corporate headquarters of DAAR Communications Plc in Abuja on Monday, February 10, 2025.

The management team, led by Chief Executive Officer, Chief Marcel Anyalechi, Director of Operations, Modupeola Oladeinde, and other senior executives, welcomed Fr. Banjo and his team.

In a closed-door meeting, Fr. Banjo, speaking on behalf of CBCN President, Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, expressed gratitude to DAAR Communications Plc for their long-standing support of the Catholic Church. He commended Africa Independent Television (AIT) for consistently promoting moral values through education, information, and entertainment in Nigeria and beyond.

Fr. Banjo also paid tribute to the late founder of DAAR Communications, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, acknowledging his generosity and support to the Church. He specifically recalled Chief Dokpesi’s enduring gift of a weekly Sunday Live Mass, broadcast pro bono, as long as AIT is in operation. A moment of silence was observed in his honor, followed by a blessing.

Cecilia Agrinya briefed the DAAR Communications management on CARITAS Nigeria’s humanitarian interventions across the country and called for collaboration. Chief Anyalechi assured Fr. Banjo of DAAR Communications’ continued support and partnership.

The visit reinforced the strong partnership between the Catholic Church and DAAR Communications in promoting evangelization and moral values in Nigeria.
