Katsina-Ala set to ordain new Bishop in July

The episcopal vacancy created in the Catholic Diocese of Katisna-Ala as a result of the death of Bishop Peter Adoboh is scheduled to be filled on July 1, 2022, as the Bishop-elect of the Diocese, Rev. Msgr. Isaac Bunde Dugu is set to be ordained and installed.This plan was made known in a statement by the Bishop of Gboko Diocese who is also the Apostolic Administrator of Katisna-Ala, Most Rev. William Amove Avenya. The statement was signed by the Chancellor/Secretary of Katsina-Ala Diocese, Very Rev. Fr. Akumbul Phelle Fidelis who confirmed thus: “after prayerful consultation, the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has agreed” to ordain and install Msgr. Dugu as the Bishop of Katisna-Ala Diocese…”.It will be recalled that Pope Francis, on April 9, 2022, appointed Msgr. Isaac Bunde Dugu, who until then, was the Director of Pastoral Agents Department at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), to be the successor of Bishop Adoboh. Ordained a Catholic priest in 2000 for the clergy of the Diocese of Makurdi before joining Gboko Diocese in 2021 upon erection, Dugu has worked in different parishes and Catholic institutions within and outside Benue State.The installation billed for July 1, 2022 is coming two years after the demise of Bishop Peter Adoboh and Msgr. Dugu will be the second Bishop of Katsina-Ala.
