Dearest friends, this year, 2024, we experienced a RARE CONVERGENCE of Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday; a convergence of *LOVE and PENANCE.*
Now, unlike the usual love lyrics, we experienced a dominance of PENANCE and ASHES everywhere today, February 14, 2024 and this has a very powerful message for all of us.
Now, we have to really understand that there is no *TRUE LOVE* without *HUMILITY.* Humility helps one to accept his/her mistakes and asks for FORGIVENESS. The Scriptures rightly affirms the above thus: *LOVE is not PROUD* (cf. 1 Cor 13:4).
👉🏼Unfortunately, LOVE is suffering today among friends, siblings, relatives, colleagues, couples, etc., because of *PRIDE*. Nobody wants to ask for forgiveness. Many marriages that would have been saved by simply *‘I AM SORRY’* are now broken because of *PRIDE.*
On this special day of REMORSE, REPENTANCE and PENANCE (Ash Wednesday) which converged with LOVE’S DAY (Valentine’s Day), let us review once again our understanding of Love and then resolve to always love in humility and sincerity. Please, learn to apologize! To attain the above, the Love that we profess must be inspired and sustained by God because *GOD IS LOVE* (cf. 1 Jn 4:8).
