PRAYING WITH MARY

The Blessed Virgin Mary

Dearest friends, one of the rich traditions of the Church that is fast eluding our present generation of Christians is the consciousness of PRAYING WITH MARY whenever we gather to pray.

Perhaps, the new generation PENTECOSTAL movements have tried to reduce the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Christian prayers to nothing and unfortunately, a number of Catholics are following such UGLY trend.

When Jesus Christ handed her mother to John at the foot of the Cross, he knew her INDISPENSABLE role as an ICON of FAITH among Christians. This explains why on the eve of the PENTECOST (The inauguration of the Church), the Apostles were united in one accord in PRAYER with MARY, the mother of Jesus (Cf. Acts 1:14).

Ever since then, the Church has always made the Blessed Mary part and parcel of her prayers. Thus, the name MARY runs through the Church’s Liturgical and Non-liturgical texts. The Church equally encourages her children all over the world to always make the Blessed MARY part of their prayers. The Church believes that, just the way Jesus Christ did not refuse Mary’s humble request at the wedding feast at Cana (Cf. Jn 2:1-10), so too, he would not refuse her request with and for her children (you and I). The Catechism sums up the above thus:

MARY is the perfect Orans (PRAY-ER), a figure of the Church. When we pray to her, we are adhering with her to the plan of the Father, who sends his Son to save all men… We can pray with and to her. The prayer of the Church is sustained by the prayer of Mary and united with it in hope (Cf. CCC n. 2678).

👉🏼Do you still pray your ROSARY?

We pray the Blessed Virgin Mary to always support us with her powerful intercession. Amen🙏🏼

Remain blessed🙏🏼
