Dearest friends, you and I are really privileged to always be among the invited guests at this Heavenly Feast – THE HOLY MASS.
But do our attitudes and dispositions always show that we are sincerely grateful to God for allowing us to always be part of such a gathering and sharing the same table with Jesus Christ, the Angels and the Saints? Or have we allowed this Holy ‘Familiarity’ to breed CONTEMPT in our lives?
The truth is that if only we could understand what happens at every Holy Mass, we would really desire always to be part of it. The Church calls it EUCHARISTIC ASSEMBLY, in order to fittingly portray the Communion of Saints that takes place at the Holy Mass (Cf. CCC nn. 1330-1331, 2188).
Now, it is unfortunate that some Catholics, though always present at the Holy Mass but are not really partaking of this Heavenly Feast. This is chiefly because of their own fault(s). In the parable of the Wedding Feast, Jesus Christ told us how a particular fellow who was not wearing wedding clothes was sent out from a wedding feast (Cf. Matt 22:1-14). In the same way, when we attend the Holy Mass without proper disposition, we stand to gain nothing. Among the requirements of being a true guest at this Heavenly Feast are: *State of Grace, Prescribed Fast, HUMILITY and Modesty* (Cf. CCC nn.1384, 1387). When one is lacking in the above requirements, the person should REPENT and go for sacramental CONFESSION as soon as possible in order to continue to benefit from the SPIRITUAL TREASURES that the Holy Mass offers.
Finally, we all should always bear in mind that the HOLY MASS is not a gathering where people come only to showcase their latest fashion and material possessions. Instead, it is a HEAVENLY JERUSALEM where all of us, as guests, FEAST together with Jesus Christ, the Angels and the Saints (Cf. Heb 12:22-24).
We pray the Blessed Virgin Mary to always support us with her powerful intercession. Amen🙏🏽
Remain blessed🙏🏽
