Rev. Fr. David Okolie
Dearest friends, the COMING of Jesus Christ in the flesh (i.e INCARNATION) is what actually defines this Season. Thus, Christ is meant to COME not only into the world but also into our communities and our individual lives.
Therefore, when Christ COMES, there ought to be necessary concrete changes. Where these changes are not evidential, then it simply means that such a person or community has unfortunately been carried away by the empty EUPHORIA of the Season. Now, these concrete changes that must necessarily accompany the Coming of Christ are: proclamation of the Good News, bringing relief to the downtrodden, etc. (cf. Is 61:1-2). You and I must manifest the above as concrete evidence that Christ has COME into our lives. Then, through you and I, our communities and the entire world would feel the PRESENCE of Jesus Christ. Remember that we ought to be the LIGHT of the world and the SALT of the earth (cf. Matt 5:13-14).
St. Paul sums up our expected dispositions at Christ’s Coming thus: “May the God of peace make you perfect and holy; and may you all be kept safe and blameless, spirit, soul and body, for the COMING of our Lord Jesus Christ” (cf. 1 Thess 5:23). Also, the Catechism affirms thus:
The Messiah’s characteristics are revealed above all in the “Servant songs… Taking our death upon himself, he can COMMUNICATE to us his own Spirit of life (cf. CCC n. 713).
May the Blessed Virgin Mary always support us with her powerful intercession. Amen🙏🏼
Remain blessed🙏🏼
