Although a number of married couples who have not had a baby of their own seem to resort to In Vitro Fertilization,ย but is everything fine with that?
Well, the Church does not just look at the face value of things but weighs that in the light of the Divine Law. Yes, the Church feels the pains of these couples but also encourages them to have the other view of the IVF thus:
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF),ย which is the artificial fertilization of retrieved mature eggs with retrieved sperm in a lab, inasmuch as it generates babies, leaves us with a number of moral problems.
1. It is the usurpation of the power of God and it renders the human person that is created in the image of God to mere goods/commodity that can be produced at will. Thus, it attacks the *DIGNITY* of the human person which has been redeemed and ennobled by the mystery of the INCARNATIONย (i.e, the taking up of the human flesh by Jesus Christ).
2. If IVF produces the bodies of the babies, does it also produce the SOUL? Human beings are composite of BODY and SOUL and this soul is the direct image of God which has eternal destiny. So, how can that which has eternal destiny be produced in a lab?
3. During every IVF, so many embryos are destroyed; thus treating human being as a mere commodity that can be produced and discarded at will. This can also be equated with ABORTION.
4. Just imagine what would be the feeling of the child when, in the future, he/she learns that he/she was produced in a laboratory? Do you not think that that is enough to turn the fellow into a beast that would eventually add to the evils in the society?
By and large, IVF is a GRAVE SIN against the human person and against God.
Now, a child is a gift from God and not a commodity to be produced or bought.
๐๐ผ Thus, the Church teaches that if, for some reasons, a couple is unable to bear a child, morally acceptable medical aids could be explored. When those are exhausted and still no child is born, the couple should resort to either extending their love and parenthood to other children of other couples or adopt one or more for themselves (cf. Familiaris Consortio nn. 14, 41).
Remember that having a child by all meansย is not one of the criteria for going to heaven. It is simply trying to meet up with the demands of the family, society and friends.
The question now is: Would you prefer to gain God’s approval or human approval?
Indeed, โit is better to OBEY God than men’ (Cf. Acts 5:29). Yes, it is not really easy, but the GRACE of God would always strengthen us. Amen๐๐ผ
Remain blessed๐๐ผ
