HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT (HRM)

Human resource management is an integrated use of procedures, policies and practices, to recruit, maintain, and develop employees in order for the organization to meet its desired goals, i.e. the mission and vision

Human Resources Management is people oriented and serves the following key functions:

  1. Recruitment and selection
  2. Training and Development
  3. Performance Evaluation and Management
  4. Promotions
  5. Redundancy
  6. Industrial and Employee Relations
  7. Record keeping of all personal data
  8. Compensation, pensions, benefits, bonuses, etc

9. Career development

Human Resources Management is the acquiring of the right type of people for the right job. Financial resources, grants and aids or any other form whether local or foreign can surely make a difference in contributing to economic growth, but all these cannot deliver the much needed goods which is the realization of the organization’s mission and vision without a well activated and revitalized human resources. You can go to wuse market to procure machines and other raw materials, but you cannot do the same for human resources. It is one thing to recruit the right person for the right job and it is another thing to maintain or keep. HRM must activate, train, develop and above all motivate Human resources in order to realize individual and organizational goals. Human Resource management is the pivot on which the wheel of any Organization rotates. Successful organizations are those where the staff view themselves as stakeholders in the organization.
