The quote “The magic thing about home is that it feels good to leave, and it feels even better to come back” resonates deeply with Bishop Francis Folorunsho Clement Alonge as he returns to his alma mater, Ss. Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija, to celebrate his Golden Jubilee Episcopal ordination anniversary.
Bishop Alonge, the Emeritus Bishop of Ondo Diocese, has a rich history with the seminary, having studied there before his priestly ordination in 1963. He was appointed and ordained Auxiliary Bishop of Ondo in 1973, elevated to substantive bishop in 1976, and served until his retirement in 2020.
According to the Rector of the Seminary, Rev. Fr. Anthony Igbekele, the two-day celebration will take place on April 30 and May 1, 2024. The event will feature a range of activities, including a football match, Solemn Vespers, Thanksgiving Mass, and a reception in honor of Bishop Alonge’s remarkable milestone.
This anniversary celebration is a testament to Bishop Alonge’s dedication and service to the church, and it is fitting that he returns to his spiritual home to mark this significant occasion.”
