The Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, His Excellency, Most Rev. Michael Francis Crotty, has arrived at the Retreat and Youth Development Centre, Nto Ekpu Ikot Nko, Obot Akara, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, for the Second Plenary Assembly of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN).
The arrival of the Papal envoy was marked by a grand reception as a colourful cultural dance troupe entertained and welcomed him in the traditional style of the people of Ikot Ekpene.
Receiving the Nuncio is the Archbishop of Calabar, Most Rev. Joseph Ekuwem, the host Bishop, Most Rev. Raymond Camillus Umoh and the good people of Ikot Ekpene diocese.
The plenary, which gathers Catholic Bishops from across Nigeria, is expected to foster fruitful deliberations on key pastoral, social, and national issues affecting the Church and the nation.
Most Rev. Crotty’s presence at the meeting underscores the Vatican’s solidarity with the Nigerian Church and highlights the importance of the conference in strengthening faith, unity, and dialogue.
