NIREC: Resist terrorists’ strategy, Omomokwhua tells Christians, Muslims

Christians and Muslims have been called upon to resist the strategy of the terrorists to turn adherents of the two religions against each other to give impression that they are at war in Nigeria.
Speaking at the forth quarterly meeting of the Nigeria Inter- Religious Council in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of the council, Rev Fr Cornelius Afebu Omonokhua said in this situation both religious adherents in Nigeria and others need to be proactive by giving information to the security agencies.
He stated that we must come together to pray and fight the enemies who have waged war against Nigeria, adding that we cannot depend on any foreign nation to do this for us.
He reiterated the need for collaboration among security agents and that love should flow from the senior officers to the junior ones.
Omonokhua further explained that to avoid tragedies the security agents need to be encouraged and improvement of their emoluments in other to motivate them.
In his speech, the National President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Dr Samson Ayokunle called for the arrest prosecution of criminal as well as block their internal and external financial base.
He also appealed to Nigerian to intensify prayers overcome the plans of the evil ones.
Also speaking the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Mohammad urged Nigerians to put aside their differences and engage on solutions that would benefit all.
