To all Christ’s faithful, friends and benefactors of the Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
As we celebrate the holy mystery of Christmas, I extend to you words of consolation and hope especially in this perilous time. At Christmas we bow in wonder before the mystery of God being very close to us. To hearts burdened by trials, the angel still proclaims: “Do not be afraid… today a Saviour has been born for you” (Luke 2:10–11). In the fragile Child of Bethlehem, God chooses to walk our roads and share our wounds. He is the “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6), whose light no darkness can overcome. “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14), assuring us that we are never alone. Even when difficulties remain, we trust that “nothing can separate us from the love of God” (Romans 8:38–39).
May this Christmas restore your strength, renew your hope, and inspire you to carry Christ’s love to others. Let us rise with courage, knowing that Emmanuel—God-with-us—walks beside us.
With my prayerful blessing,
✠ Michael Odogwu Elue
Catholic Bishop of Issele-Uku
