Rev. Fr. David Okolie
Dearest friends, you can bear witness to the fact that one of the themes that many of the present day preachers and Christians always try to sweep under the carpet is that of HELL. In fact, some persons have recently come up with the ideology that: โGod is too merciful and cannot have the heart to punish any of his creatures in the so called hell’ย Really? Hmmm! Indeed, the above ideology is as FALSE as those who propagate it. Even in our day to day life, we have the idea of REWARD and PUNISHMENT; right? So, let me ask you, *If, on the Last Day, the VIRTUOUS are REWARDED, what would happen to the VICIOUS?*
Now, this is the age-long teaching of the Church about HELL:
The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of HELL and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of MORTAL SIN descend into HELL, where they suffer the punishments of hell, “eternal fire…” (cf. CCC, n. 1035).
What then is expected of you and I? It is not really enough to keep on denying the REALITY of HELL but the idea should help us to always remember that we must give ACCOUNT of our lives here on earth one day. The Catechism affirms that the teachings of both the Sacred Scripture and the Church on the theme of HELL are, among other things, an urgent call to CONVERSION (cf. CCC n. 1036). Jesus Christ himself, after telling us about the parable of the TEN VIRGINS, concluded thus: โAnd so you must be VIGILANT, because you do not know the day or the hour”ย (cf. Matt 25:1-13). May God help us not to miss HEAVEN at last๐๐ผ
We pray the Blessed Virgin Mary to always support us with her powerful intercession. Amen๐๐ผ
