A MAN OF HISTORY

December 8 did not go down in history as a usual day for the celebration of the Solemnity of Immaculate Conception of Blessed Virgin Mary but also a day that Catholic Institute of West Africa reached 40 years.
CampusGists.com camera put some attention on the Rector Magnificus who was well dressed for the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the CIWA foundation yesterday. Rev Fr Prof Jude Abidemi Asanbe, a pioneer alumnus of CIWA himself was cladded in a flowing agbada, full of smiles, very happy, could see some fulfilment and excitement written all over him. Under his watch as Acting Rector, Catholic Institute of West Africa clocked 40 years of excellent existence. He was there when Catholic Institute of West Africa Port Harcourt celebrated 30 years, ten years ago. At the event he was joined by a fellow alumni of Great Bodija Msgr Anthony Obanla, the Chancellor of Lagos Archdiocese who came to represent the Chairman Governing Council, Archbishop Adewale Martins, the Rector was supported with the episcopal presence of Most Rev Patrick Eluke who was the Chief celebrant at the Eucharistic gathering, last but not the least the Chairman of the Occasion Hon. Dr. Gabriel Pidomson the former Secretary to the Rivers State Government during Sir Celestine Omehia’s administration was at hand to support with time, finance and mobilisation, with host of other persons from religious and secular walks of life.
