With deep sorrow yet profound gratitude to God for a life of remarkable service, we celebrate the passing of Most Rev Julius Babatunde ADELAKUN Emeritus Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Oyo.
Born on 4th November 1934, His Lordship devoted his entire life to the service of God and humanity.
From his early formation in the Catholic minor and major seminaries, through his priestly ordination in 1965, and his episcopal consecration in 1973, he lived out his vocation with extraordinary faith, humility, and pastoral zeal.
As a seasoned communication expert and a visionary in pastoral development, he worked tirelessly to advance the mission of the Church and uplift the spiritual and social lives of the people entrusted to his care.
Your enduring legacy is reflected not only in your transformative leadership but also in the five priests you ordained who were later consecrated bishops — a testament to your deep commitment to nurturing vocations and fostering the growth of the Church.
Your years of faithful service, culminating in your emeritus ministry from 2009, will remain a source of inspiration to generations of the faithful.
As we mourn your passing, we celebrate a life wholly dedicated to God, to the Church, and to the service of humanity.
May the Lord, whom you served so faithfully, grant you eternal rest in His heavenly kingdom; And may your memory continue to inspire the clergy and faithful of the Diocese to greater faith, unity, and pastoral dedication.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May you rest in peace. Amen.
