The Bishops of Nigeria from the ecclesiastical provinces of Calabar, Jos, Abuja and Kaduna, arrived Vatican City over the weekend.

Earlier today, Monday 8 March, 2026, this second group of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria began their Ad Limina Apostolorum Visit in Rome with the celebration of Holy Mass at the Basilica of St John Lateran, the Cathedral of the Pope as Bishop of Rome.
The Chuef Celebrant at the Mass was Most Rev. Joseph Ekuwem, Archbishop of Calabar.

At the end of the Eucharistic Celebration, the Bishops gathered around the ‘Cathedra’ (Seat of the Bishop of Rome), a meaningful sign of their communion with the Holy Father and their unity with the See of Peter.

As their pilgrimage continues, the Bishops remain united in prayer for the Church and people of Nigeria, and they invite the faithful to accompany them spiritually so that this visit may bear abundant fruit for the life of the Church and for the good of the nation.
