Dearest friends, do you really think that there are other people who ought to be Agents of Peace more than Christians? Personally, I do not think so. The reason is that the Christian faith is synonymous with Peace. In fact, it is quite ironical to be a Christian and not to be an Agent of Peace. Here, we think about the very Jesus Christ whom we are following, he made it very clear thus: “Blessed are the PEACEMAKERS, for they shall be called CHILDREN of GOD”(cf. Matt 5:9). Jesus himself is the ‘PRINCE of PEACE’ (cf. Is 9:6).
The above expresses the very wish of Jesus for us. Unfortunately, a number of Christians and their ministers are agents of hatred, discord, enmity, rancour, etc.
But, the truth is that while some persons are consciously working against the reign of PEACE others, through their attitude and disposition towards others, lead to the breakdown of Peace. Thus, the Catechism affirms: ‘PEACE is the work of JUSTICE and the effect of CHARITY” (cf. CCC n. 2304). The above simply means that when people are given the things that are due to them and when they also receive the goodwill of the people, concretely expressed through sincere CHARITY that is geared towards the betterment of the human person, then, Peace would naturally spring up. Here, the Blessed Virgin Mary remains a MODEL, who, despite the exalted position that God has raised her, she still humbled herself to carrying out some works of CHARITY in the house of Zechariah and Elizabeth (cf. Lk 1:39-45).
We should always remember that Jesus Christ has actually broken down every wall of hatred, division, enmity, etc. among us (cf. Eph 2:13-22). Therefore, we should always strive in our individual lives and activities to be AGENTS of PEACE.
May the Blessed Virgin Mary always support us with her powerful intercession. Amen🙏🏼
Happy new month and remain blessed!
