Rev. Fr. David Okolie

Dearest friends, you and I are conversant with the title: ‘Jesus, Son of David’ (cf. CCC n. 2616) but have you asked yourself how that came about?

Now, do not forget that Jesus Christ is truly GOD but he is also truly MAN, thus in him are found the above two natures which are INSEPARABLE and is called ‘HYPOSTATIC UNION’. Now, the genealogy of Jesus Christ as MAN can be traced to DAVID, the king (cf. Matt 1:1-16).

But how did David come into the scene? God made a promise to David because of the GOODWILL of David towards God. After God had given him victory over his enemies and has blessed him abundantly, instead of acting foolishly, perhaps like the RICH FOOL (cf. Lk 12:13-21), David acted WISELY, by thinking about how to BUILD a house for the ARK of GOD that was dwelling in a TENT. Because of this GOODWILL, God blessed him even more and promised that he would raise a king from his lineage whose throne would last forever (cf. 2 Sam 7:1-16). Indeed, Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of this promise to David (cf. Lk 1:32).

Dearest friends, always have GOODWILL towards God, the things of God and your neighbour because such can never go UNREWARDED.

We pray the Blessed Virgin Mary to always support us with her powerful intercession. Amen🙏🏼
