Announcing 2025 ComWEEK: CSN Set to Host 4th Edition of Communications Week

By CSN Media

The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) is set to host the fourth edition of the Communications Week (ComWEEK) celebration in Nigeria, with the theme: “Share with gentleness the hope that is in your hearts” (cf. 1 Pet 3:15-16).

According to the National Director of Social Communications at the CSN, Rev. Fr. Michael Nsikak Umoh, the ComWEEK programme is scheduled to start on Sunday, 25 May, and end on Sunday, 1 June, 2025, which is the Sunday of the World Communication Day (WCD). The celebration is expected to hold in all parishes, Catholic institutions, and pastoral units in Nigeria throughout the period.

A major highlight of the celebration will be the 2nd edition of the ComWEEK Public Lecture, scheduled to hold on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

The ComWEEK is an initiative of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), targeted towards media literacy for discipleship. It is an expansion of the one-day WCD, established since 1967 by Pope Paul VI.

The Nigerian Bishops developed the one-week programme, conscious of the important and enormous challenges of media and communications to the Church and modern society, particularly in the present digital age.

The Vatican has commended the CBCN for its efforts in organizing the ComWeek in Nigeria. The Prefect of the Dicastery for Social Communication, Dr. Paolo Ruffini, lauded the CBCN’s dedication to enhancing media literacy among Nigerian Catholics.

Also, the Pan African Episcopal Committee for Social Communications (CEPACS) has also commended the ComWEEK media literacy initiative of the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria and called on Bishops within the region to design and incorporate World Communication Day/Week as CEPACS annual programme.
