Another Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Ukeh from St. Thomas Parish, Zaman Dabo Community, in the Zango Kataf local government area of Kaduna State, has been kidnapped.
In a press statement by the Diocesan Vicar General (pastoral),Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Kazah, the incidence occurred on Sunday, June 9, 2024. The Archdiocese of Kaduna, according to the statement, solicits prayers for his urgent and safe release, even as they strongly condemn every form of incessant kidnapping of innocent and defenseless citizens in the community. The statement equally appealed to all to desist from taking laws into their hands.
“While we solicit for his urgent and safe release, we equally condemn this act of incessant kidnappings for ransom of innocent and defenseless citizens of our communities, and we call upon the government to hone its security intelligence as we approach the salah celebration.”
“As we work with security operatives for his quick release, we wish to call on all to stay away from taking laws into their hands. We will use every legitimate means to ensure that Fr. Ukeh comes back to us safe and sound. Through the intercessions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of priests and religious, may Jesus the crucified, hearken to our prayers, and hasten the unconditional release of his priest and every other abducted person.”
Fr. Ukeh’s abduction came barely a month after the abduction of Rev. Fr. Oliver Buba from the Catholic Diocese of Yola.
