On the third day of the Catholic bishops’ plenary in Nigeria, coinciding with the feast of St. Bartholomew, Bishop Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor of Awka Diocese delivered a powerful homily. He urged his fellow bishops to lead by example, emphasizing that living exemplary lives is more effective in winning souls for Christ than engaging in theological debates.
“Authenticity is key,” Bishop Ezeokafor stressed. “We must be genuine in our relationship with God, approaching Him without pretenses. The most effective way to win souls is to introduce them to Christ’s person, not through lengthy arguments. Our lives should be a testament to our faith, inspiring others to follow Christ’s example.”
In a world where truth is often obscured by error, Bishop Ezeokafor encouraged the bishops to cultivate virtues that please God and enhance their prayer life and apostolic missions. By doing so, they can make a positive impact and win more soulsย forย Christ.
