Lovers of culture and good governance all around Ogun State gathered at Ijebu-Igbo on Wednesday 23rd February 2022 to witness the coronation of the new Oba of Ijebu-Igbo, HRH Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo.
After 28 years of the sedes vacante of the throne of the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, crowned the new Oba, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo as the king of Ijebu-Igbo land.
By this appointment, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo who is a very active and practicing Catholic has become a member of the Ijebu Traditional Council and a permanent member representing the Ijebu Traditional Council at the Ogun State Council of Obas.
The ceremony began with the blessing of crown, staff and other kingly elements of his office by the Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins at about 9:00am in the residence of the new king.
The ceremony continued with the arrival of important guests, government officials, Deputy State Governor and the State Governor himself at the coronation venue, Abusi Odumare school mini stadium.
At the appointed time, the Governor of Ogun State installed Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo as the new king of Ijebu-Igbo land at the admiration and cheering echo of all present.
