Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA) witnessed an electrifying moment in academic history as renowned Professor of Digital Communication, Inaku Kenneth Egere, delivered a captivating inaugural lecture. This landmark event, marking the 7th inaugural lecture in CIWA’s illustrious history, drew an audience of prominent journalists, academics, professionals, and students.
Professor Egere’s lecture introduced a pioneering theory titled Demystifying Emerging Media Theory, which he described as a revolutionary framework designed to “melt the myths around AI.” This groundbreaking theory, birthed at CIWA, is poised to redefine the study of communication in the digital age. In the words of Professor Ferdinand Nwigbo, captured by Precious Famgba, “This is more than a theory; it is a revolution in communication study.”
The highlight of the event was the formal induction of the 49-year-old Professor Egere into CIWA’s prestigious Hall of Academic Fame by Professor Nwigbo, signifying his extraordinary contribution to the field.
Following the academic ceremony, guests transitioned to CIWA’s alternative hall for a reception that was as exceptional as the lecture itself. True to the Rector’s opening remarks, “All our guests are special guests of honour,” the event featured a feast of refreshments and lively performances by student dance groups, creating an atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie.
