Priest of the Catholic Diocese of Benin, Rev. Fr. Charles Onomhoale Igechi has been reportedly shot death in the late hours of yesterday June 7, 2023.
According to a release signed by the Archbishop of Benin City, His Grace Archbishop Augustine Akubeze, the deceased Cleric, who until his death, was the Vice Principal of St. Michael College, Ikhueniro, was shot death on his way back from his place of assignment and his remains were found by Boundary street in Ikpoba Hill, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
While assuring the public that the appropriate security agencies have been informed and are currently working to bring the pepertuators to book, the bereaved Archbishop, called on all to pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of Fr. Charles Igechi.
Fr. Igechi who was ordained on August 13, 2022, and died June 7, 2023, will be buried on June 9, 2023, beginning with a funeral Mass at Bishop Kelly Pastoral Center Chapel by 10:am.
