Catholic Directors of Communications in Nigeria gets new Executives

The Catholic directors of social communications in Nigeria, on Thursday, 24 August, 2023, elected new executive members to pilot the affairs of the association for the next four years.The election which took place at the Conference Hall of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) as part of the associationโ€™s General Assembly, was conducted by the Deputy Secretary General and Director of Pastoral Affairs of CSN, Fr. Michael Banjo and Very Rev. Fr. Gerald Musa who is the HOD of the Center for Study of African Culture and Communications in Port Harcourt.

At the end of the peaceful and transparent exercise, Rev. Fr. Andrew Dewan of Pankshin diocese emerged as the new President, while Sr. Theresa Guzuma as the Vice President. Other officers are: Fr. Anthony Adetayo as Secretary, Sr. Francisca Opara as Assistant Secretary, Fr. George Adimike as Financial Secretary, Fr. Augustine Ikwu as Treasurer and Sr. Eunice Ikufisile and the Public Relations Officer.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the newly elected executives, Fr. Dewan pledged their unreserved commitment to serve, work and operate an all-inclusive administration and in full collaboration with the national directorate of social communucations at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria.

Additionally, the new President called on all to remember that their collective interest is to drive the gospel of Christ in this part of the world and invited all to come together to advance that call of evangelization.

The National Director of Social Communications, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Nsikak Umoh, congratulated the new executive and challenged them to be up and doing. He reminded the executive that they have a lot of work to do in promoting the media apostolate in Nigeria, as such they must make that their primary focus.

Fr. Umoh thanked God for successful election process and expressed confidence in the callibre of members elected, urging them to shun personal interests and put the good of the Church and task of evangelisation above all things in discharging their duties.
