By CSN Media

The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) has kicked off its 4th National Education Summit, themed “Global Compact on Education in the Nigerian Context.” The summit brings together educators, policymakers, and stakeholders to tackle pressing challenges and find solutions for quality education in Nigeria, focusing on Catholic education.

The Archdiocesan Education Secretary of Kaduna, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Madaki, expressed enthusiasm about the summit. “I’m excited and nostalgic, recalling the unforgettable experience I had at the previous summit. My expectations are high, as summits like these foster policy discussions, idea sharing from around the world, promoting equity, unity, and quality education in Catholic institutions.”

The Rector of Stella Maris Seminary, Uyanga, Catholic Archdiocese of Calabar, Rev. Fr. Sylvester Effiom, attending for the first time, hopes to learn about contemporary education standards and formation aligned with the Church’s vision.

The summit will feature keynote addresses, paper presentations, panel discussions, and workshops on innovative teaching methods, infrastructure development, and policy reforms. Notable speakers include Prof. Jean Paul Niyigena, Consultor of the Dicastery for Culture and Education in Vatican and Lecturer at Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, who will deliver the Keynote Address. Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, will also attend.

Representatives from the Federal Ministry of Education, Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council, and Catholic educational institutions are expected to participate.

The 4th National Education Summit will run from October 22 to 25, 2024, at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) in Abuja.
