The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has appointed Very Reverend Father Michael Omughele as the National Chaplain of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI) in Nigeria. According to the appointment letter issued by the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), Fr. Omughele will provide spiritual guidance to one of the oldest Catholic lay organizations in Nigeria.

In an exclusive interview with CSN Media, Fr. Omughele expressed his gratitude for the appointment, describing it as “a profound blessing and a sacred responsibility; to serve, walk with and grow with” the Knights and Ladies of St. John. He emphasised that his new role is both an honour and a mission, stating that “God does not work with age or qualifications; rather, He qualifies the called”.

As the National Spiritual Director, Fr. Omughele outlined a pastoral approach rooted in listening, openness, and collaborative engagement. He pledged to work closely with leadership and members at every level, aiming to animate an Order where the fear of God reigns supreme and fraternal love and genuine empathy shape every decision and action.

Fr. Omughele is a priest of the Lagos Archdiocese and currently serves as the parish priest of Blessed Cyprian Michael Iwene Tansi Catholic Church, Airfield, Magbon. He was ordained on December 17, 2011.
