CSN Director ordained Bishop of Katsina-Ala

The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) added another colourful feather to her cap on Friday, July 1, 2022 with the elevation to the Episcopate of one of her Directors, Most Rev. Isaac Bundepuun Dugu.

Bishop Dugu was until his appointment by the Holy Father as the Bishop of Katsina-Ala, the Director of Pastoral Agents Department in the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria.

Present at the ordination ceremony was a delegation of the CSN led by the Secretary General, Very Rev. Fr. Zacharia Nyantiso Samjumi and the Deputy Secretary General and Director of Pastoral Affairs, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Banjo who had gone ahead of the delegation on Wednesday, June 29, to ensure that the liturgical aspect of the programme was in line with the Liturgical regulations. The other Directors present were, Very Rev. Fr. Uche Obodoechina of Church and Society, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Umoh of Social Communications, Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Nomwhange of Mission and Dialogue, Very Rev. Fr. Solomon Zaku of Pontifical Mission Societies as well as the Deputy Executive Secretary of Caritas Nigeria, Very Rev. Fr. Peter Babangida Audu, the CBCN Secretaries for Youth Animation and Inter-religious Dialogue, Very Rev. Frs. Boniface Idoko and Lawrence Chike respectively. The Head of Human Resources in CSN, Rev. Sr. Bernadine Ikeji, DDL was also present with a good number of staff of CSN and Caritas Nigeria.

Ordained Priest on October 21, 2000, Bishop Dugu was the Director of Pastoral Agents at the CSN, a position he held from 2019 to 2022 before taking over the responsibility of shepherding the flock of Katsina-Ala. In addition to holding many positions and serving the Church in different capacities, he previously worked as a Secretary at the CSN in Lagos from 2004 to 2007 where he also celebrated Masses regularly at the Catholic Secretariat Chaplaincy and some outstations around Lagos Island and Lekki environs.

The people of Katsina-Ala witnessed a galaxy of the Church hierarchies, state and traditional dignitaries and men and women of all classes of society in joyous celebration as the vacancy created two years ago following the demise of Bishop Peter Adoboh was filled.
