In a bid to foster a closer working relationship and enhance internal communication within the Catholic Secretariat community, the executives of the Laystaff Association of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) paid a courtesy visit to the 14th Secretary General, Rev. Fr. Michael Ayanleke Banjo, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

Led by the Chairman of the Association, Sir Dr. Godwin Ukel, the delegation congratulated the newly appointed Secretary General and expressed their appreciation for his previous commitment to staff welfare and administrative transparency. He commended Rev. Fr. Banjo for his open-door policy and efforts at improving work conditions.

“We are here today as a family and not a trade union to express our collective gratitude for the support and leadership you have continued to offer as our Spiritual Director during your reign as the Deputy Secretary General. This visit is also an opportunity to strengthen our bond and dialogue as we work together for the mission of the Church,” he said.

In his response, Rev. Fr. Banjo welcomed the team and called for continuous dialogue and teamwork among the Secretariat’s staff. He emphasized the importance of unity, professionalism, and individual empowerment in advancing the goals of the Catholic Secretariat.

“I am deeply grateful for this visit. It means a lot to me as it reflects the unity and commitment of our staff to the mission entrusted to us. Let us continue to support one another in the spirit of faith and service,” he stated, adding that this courtesy visit indeed marks a significant step in reinforcing mutual respect and collaboration between the CSN management and laystaff.

Giving a vote of thanks on behalf of the delegation, the Laystaff Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Ogechi Unaegbu, appreciated the Secretary General for always being there for members of the laystaff association. She wished him God’s wisdom to shepherd the flock entrusted to his care.
