CWO: Bishop Anagbe leads Christ’s faithful in praying for the dead

The faithful of Makurdi Diocese today converged on Saint Francis Catholic Church, Nyiekaa, Owner Occuppier Housing Estate, Makurdi to pray for the reposed souls and quick recovery of the injured in an auto crash involving members of the Catholic women organization CWO while returning from a burial of one of their members.

In a homily during a Mass organized in their honour, Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, Most Reverend Wilfred Anagbe encouraged the church to persevere in prayers and confessions to God hence no one knows when death will come.

Most Reverend Anagbe who stated that the church was pained by the tragedy however said their sudden death will bring the mercy of God on them, pointing out that they died while performing the coporal works of Mercy which is to bury the dead.

The Bishop explained that it was the time alloted by God for them to die and advised those attributing it to witchcraft to accept it as God’s will saying that an accident can happen at anytime.

He prayed God to give the Catholic Diocese, entire parishioners and parish priest of Saint Francis Catholic Church, Nyiekaa, Owner Occuppier, Reverend Father John Agbo, families and friends of those who lost their loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.

The Mass was attended by officials of CAN in the state among other sympathizers.

The Thursday accident involving eighteen Catholic Women Organization, CWO and the driver, four died while others sustained various degree of injuries.
