Fr Emmanuel Lewis takes over as Rector, Seminary of Albert the Great

The Holy Father has appointed Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Lewis as the second rector of the young regional Seminary of St. Albert the Great, situated at Idowu Offoran village within Abeokuta diocese.

The news of the appointment was broken to the seminary community after Morning Mass on January 16, 2024 by the erstwhile and pioneering rector, Very Rev. Fr. Anselm Ekhelar. This was greeted with loud ovation by both the staff and students of the seminary, indicating a general acceptance.

In his short remarks that followed the announcement, Fr Ekhelar admonished the entire seminary community to match the joy expressed with a befitting cooperation so as to ensure the continuous growth of the seminary.

Fr. Emmanuel Lewis is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, though he was originally ordained for the Archdiocese of Lagos on the August 31,1996. He began his official assignment in the seminary alongside the erstwhile Rector on the 1st of December, 2014. The duo have worked together assiduously since the inception of the seminary for the past ten years to ensure the rapid growth of the institution.

The new Rector has since taken over and commenced his duties.
