GRATITUDE TO VULCANIZERS…

Rev. Fr. David Okolie

As I packed my car and entered this very parish that I just visited, I didn’t notice that one of my tyres had picked up a nail. Only after Mass, when I returned to my car, did I see that the tyre was losing air. Worried, I wondered what to do.

A priest suggested we search for a VULCANIZER. We drove out and soon spotted a vulcanizing machine, filling me with relief. The vulcanizer quickly fixed the tyre. While he was doing that, both of us had a brief conversation.

He mentioned that young people aren’t interested in learning his work, seeking overnight wealth instead. We agreed that every job is vital and shouldn’t be looked down upon. Even hospital cleaners are essential. According to him, the doctor cannot abandon the theatre in order to do the cleaning.

Dearest friends, why choose IDLENESS when there are countless opportunities for work? Scripture warns, โ€œIf anyone will not WORK, let them not EAT” (2 Thess 3:10). Every GENUINE work has DIGNITY.

I recently saw a BBC interview with a FEMALE VULCANIZERย who proudly supports herself. Why rely on others for your upkeep when you can take up a task, no matter how menial?

Finally, please, do not keep moving from pillar to post with that your certificate, but start up something. Remember, โ€œAn IDLE mind is the devil’s workshop.”

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผThank you, VULCANIZERS, CLEANERS, and others, for your valuable services to humanity!

Remain blessed!
