“His mercy is from age to age” (Luke 1:50)
Today, Sunday, July 26, 2026, the Church joins the universal family of God in celebrating the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. On this joyful occasion, I extend my warmest greetings and blessings to all our grandparents and elderly ones in the Diocese of Oyo and beyond.
You are God’s special gift to us, the living foundation upon which our families, our faith, and our future have been built. Through your years of sacrifice, prayer, and quiet strength, you have shown us what it means to love without counting the cost. Thank you for building the future we now stand upon.
To our beloved Papas and Mamas: thank you for the love and care you gave us when we needed you most. We are because you were there. We love you still, and we need you still. May your remaining days be filled with joy, sound health, laughter, and the deep peace that comes from a life well spent in the service of God and family.
Today, as we honour you, we also pray for you and we ask that you continue to pray for us, your children, as you have always done. We remember too all who care for you: your families, your caregivers, and all who look after your wellbeing daily. May God reward their labour of love abundantly.
May the Lord who has been your strength through every season keep you in His loving hands. Happy celebration to you all.
Agba a yoo rorun fun yin o.
Amen.
