Nigerian Catholic Bishops begin 1st 2024 plenary assembly

Catholic Bishops in Nigeria under the aegis of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) commence first 2024 plenary assembly at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) in Abuja.

The plenary with the theme: Synod on Synodality: Areas of interest for the church in Nigeria begins today, Friday, February 16, 2024 with the arrival of the Bishops from their respective dioceses.

In an exclusive chat with CSN Media, the Catholic Bishop of Idah Diocese, Most Rev. Anthony Adaji, MSP on arrival, disclosed that this year’s plenary assembly is very unique and peculiar, considering the theme, which focuses on Synod on Synodality. He explained that it will afford the Bishops of Nigeria an opportunity to build and grow a united and indivisible church that walks together, evangelizes together and grows together.

Also, the Emeritus Archbishop of Ibadan, Most Rev. Felix Alaba Job, added that at the time like this in Nigeria, the message of unity and love is very essential. He noted that the plenary is expected to address both issues concerning the Church and the society.

The 1st 2024 plenary assembly of the CBCN which begins today, will witness a special seminar for the Bishops tomorrow, Saturday 17, and the official opening Mass and opening ceremony on Sunday, February 18, 2024.
