PH Diocese, set to celebrate Bishop Etokudoh

The Catholic faithful and friends of the Catholic Diocese of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, are set to celebrate their Diocesan Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Camillus Archibong Etokudoh as he marks his 35th Episcopal installation and 45th priestly ordination respectively.

The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, Port Harcourt by 10am.
A release from the Organising Committee invites the faithful of the Diocese and friends of the Bishop to turn out in their number to celebrate with him.
Bishop Etokudoh was appointed Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Port Harcourt by Pope Benedict XVI on Monday 4th May, 2009. His Episcopal installation was held on Saturday 25th July 2009 at Corpus Christi Cathedral, Port Harcourt to succeed Bishop Alexius Obabu Makozi of blessed memory.
Born on 3rd August 1949 in Ikot Uko Etor in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, he was ordained Priest of Ikot Ekpene Diocese on 2nd July 1978, and appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Ikot Ekpene on 18th January, 1988. He was later appointed Bishop of Ikot Ekpene Diocese on 1st September 1989.
Since taking up his role as the Chief Shepherd of Port Harcourt, he has spent his energies on building up and uniting the Clergy, Religious and Laity through regular contact and scheduled activities with structured administrative development.
In terms of projects, Bishop Etokudoh has already completed the Pastoral Centre and the Bishop’s House. He has intensified efforts to complete the Stella Maris University project to prove his interest in Catholic education.
The Bishop has also initiated the process of creating a new Diocese from the present Diocese of Port Harcourt, convoked the second Diocesan Synod and Golden Jubilee celebrations and the nomination of Patrick Eluke as Auxiliary Bishop of Port Harcourt Diocese.
Bishop Etokudoh has also created four new Deaneries and number of parishes in the Diocese.
