Rev. Fr. David Okolie
Dearest friends, it is true that even if brothers die for brothers, still no martyr’s blood is shed for the forgiveness of the brothers’ sins – this is exactly what Christ did for us. The RANSOM he paid for our salvation is very costly; neither in silver nor in gold but his PRECIOUS BLOODย (cf 1 Pt 1:18-19).
The truth is that we cannot really pay him back. Our difficulties in life and struggles with sin cannot equal what he suffered, because, among other things, we have not suffered/struggled to the point of shedding our own blood (cf. Heb 12:4). So, how best can we thank our beloved JESUS?
๐๐ผWe can only be GRATEFUL to him by always making conscious efforts to AVOID sins and NOT to be comfortable in sins. When we fall into sin due to human weakness, we should REPENTย and then rush to the Sacrament of CONFESSION. Remember what our Catechism teaches us thus: โ… Our Saviour died for our sins and those who SIN grievously CRUCIFY again to themselves the Son of God, making him a MOCKERY”ย (cf. CCD, n. 291, Heb 6:6). Again, he himself said: โIf you LOVE me, obey my COMMANDMENTS” (cf. Jn 14:15).
NOTE:
๐๐ฝIf you have not gone for CONFESSION, you can still do that today and receive the forthcoming Easter GRACE and JOY.
๐๐ฝ Remember to refresh your mind on how to pray the โREGINA CAELI‘ (O Queen of Heaven Rejoice…), which will replace the ANGELUS during the Easter Season.
Remain blessed; as we expectantly wait for the Easter Joy๐๐ฝ
