As the Nuncio stepped into the VIP lounge, he was treated to a vibrant display of traditional dance by the Catholic theater and cultural troope of Port Harcourt Diocese. This warm welcome set the tone for his visit.
The Nuncio’s first stop was the Pastoral Center, located at Igwuruta, along the Airport Road. This historic site holds significance as the location where the first Irish priest in the diocese established a center. The venue is currently home to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. After moments of adoration and blessing, the Nuncio proceeded to the Bishop’s House.
At the Bishop’s House, the Nuncio was greeted by students from Stella Maris College, St. Mary’s model school, CMO, CWO, CYON, and a large gathering of other laity led by the laity chairman of Port Harcourt Diocese. The dance troope from Bonny Island added to the festive atmosphere with their beautiful performances. Bishop Camillus Etokudoh extended a warm welcome to his esteemed guest, supported by his very supportive and indefatigable Auxiliary Bishop, Most Rev. Patrick Eluke and Bishop Camillus Umoh of Ikot Ekpene Diocese.
Following the closing prayer and blessing, the Nuncio engaged in a closed-door meeting with the bishops, while the people returned home, filled with joy and gratitude for the warm welcome extended to the representative of the Pope in Nigeria.
