- Your Excellencies, Your Graces, Your Lordships, Rt. and Rev. Msgrs., Rev. Frs., Religious Sisters and Brothers, Beloved Lay Faithful, Gentlemen of the Press, Ladies and Gentlemen,
- The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) is pleased to announce the 4th edition of the annual Communications Week (ComWEEK) programme of the Catholic Church in Nigeria. This year’s theme, for the World Communication Day (WCD), is “Share with Gentleness the Hope that is in your Heart.”
- The ComWEEK programme will run from Sunday, May 25, 2025, to Sunday, June 1, 2025, culminating in the World Communication Day celebration. It will be celebrated in all parishes, pastoral units, chaplaincies, seminaries, convents, and indeed all Catholic institutions and facilities in Nigeria.
- ComWEEK, an initiative of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), aims to promote media literacy at the grassroots. It is designed to foster awareness of media influence, encourage critical thinking, and develop active and responsible engagement with the media among everyone.
- A manual for daily reflection all through the week has been prepared with selected topics, focusing on the central theme. It is available electronically for all. Parishes, institutions, and individuals can freely access and print the manual as needed.
- We encourage all parish priests, chaplains, and heads of pastoral units and Catholic institutions and centers in Nigeria to incorporate the ComWEEK programme into their evening Masses and activities during the week. Families, sodalities, and groups are also encouraged to organise and carry out the programme internally as a group and family together.
- We invite all Catholics and people of goodwill to join us in this enriching programme. Together, let us become gentle disciples of hope and love in our daily interactions and engagement in the media space.
May this ComWEEK be a source of spiritual growth and social rebirth for us and our communities.
Thank you.
Rev. Fr. Michael Nsikak Umoh
National Director of Social Communications
