Ramadan: Archbishop Abegunrin calls for prayer against insecurity in Nigeria

The Catholic Archbishop of Ibadan, His Grace, Most Rev. Gabriel ‘Leke Abegunrin, on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, has called on Muslims, to use the period of Ramadan fast, to pray for an end to insecurity in Nigeria.

Archbishop Abegunrin, in his Ramadan message made available through the National Director of Social Communications, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Mike Umoh, also requested for prayer for the world and our country Nigeria that COVID-19 pandemic may end.

Part of the terse statement titled: “Ramadan Message to Muslims in Ibadan and Oyo State” reads: “Ramadan is an injunction given to Muslims to fast. The Holy Quran states: “Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may learn piety and righteousness” (Q 2:183)”.

“During this period of Ramadan, I request you to pray for the world and our country Nigeria that the COVID-19 pandemic may come to an end. I also implore you to pray for the end of the insecurity that is afflicting our nation. May God bring peace and security to our country! I wish you a fruitful Ramadan fast!
