His Eminence Cardinal Francis Arinze, Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation of Divine Worship & the Discipline of the Sacraments, born on 1st November,1932, in Eziowelle of Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, clocks Ninety One years old. Glory to Jesus Christ!
Then Francis Arinze is said was ordained a Priest by Cardinal Gregorio Pietro Agagianian, Pro-prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith on 23rd November, 1958.
It was on 6th July, 1965, Pope Paul VI appointed him Titular Bishop of Fissiana & Coadjutor to Charles Heerey, Archbishop of Onitsha. Then Bishop Arinze became the youngest Roman Catholic Bishop in the world when Heerey consecrated him on 29th August, 1965, at the age of 32.*
Pope John Paul II named Arinze Cardinal-Deacon of San Giovanni della Pigna in the consistory held on 25th May ,1985. After Ten Years, he exercised his option to be raised to the Rank of Cardinal-priest, which Pope John Paul approved on 29th January 1996.
