The Moderator of the 3rd Provincial Chapter of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, Rev Fr. Charles Ebelebe, CSSp, has tasked the Provincial Superior Elect of the North East Province of the congregation of the Holy Spirit, Rev. Fr Jude ORTESE CSSp.

Fr Charles gave the Provincial-elect the task in his preaching at Mass said at the St Pope John Paul II Pastoral Centre, Makurdi on the 2nd of December, 2022.

Fr Ebelebe revealed that the reason why Nigerians are clamoring for the restructuring of the country is to enable regions use their resources for the good of the respective regions. Such an exercise can provide opportunities for the regions to have healthy competetion, a situation thatt would bring about speedy development. The Spiritans in Nigeria are divided into four regions, and unfortunately, the North East Province is the one lagging behind, not because of lack of finance but the inability of the Province to use the great human resources it has for the good of the Province as a result of which the Province is just struggling. ‘ You have enough of potentials let us not hear the story of bickering and the administration not working, and the Province remaining stagnant,. let there be good news.’ Fr Ebelebe advised.

Referring to the gospel reading in which Jesus touched the blind men and healed them, Fr Ebelebe asked Fr Ortese to have personal touch with confreres because touch is a sacrament which has healing effect. The moderator concluded that the Provincial Superior elect should not force confreres after the four years to vote for him but should work in such a way that the confreres can say, you did well, continue.

Fr. Jude ORTESE CSSp, was elected Provincial by the Confreres on the 1st of December, 2022. The Capitulants await the confirmation of the election by the Superior General and his Council.
